How To Protect Your Furniture During A Move.

How To Protect Your Dining Room Table One of the key things to remember when you’re moving your dining room table is to protect the legs with bubble wrap, old clothing or other soft furnishings. This can stop them from breaking off, getting scratched or from doing any damage to your walls while you’re moving them around. If you’re worried that you won’t be able to get the table out of the door then it may best for you to dismantle the legs prior to the move. If you do, then remember to label any parts clearly and to keep them somewhere safe so that you can put everything back together quickly at the other end. Before you move, you should also put a protective wrap on the top table surface to stop it from being scratched by any other removal boxes or furniture pieces along the way. How To Protect Your Sofas & Chairs

As sofas and armchairs are soft they are often easier to move than other pieces of furniture, however it is still important that you take a few minor precautions to keep them safe while you move. Firstly, you should remove any loose cushions or covers from the chairs to ensure that they do not get in your way during the move. These cushions and covers should be stored safely in storage boxes or vacuum-pack bags during the move so that they are secure and easy to find at the other end. Secondly, the remaining body of the sofa should be covered to stop any dust or water damaging it along the way. Cellophane wrap is great for protecting the external fabric and can stop material from ripping during the journey. Finally, you should also remember to protect any legs on the bottom of the sofa with protective bubble wrap so that they don’t get damaged or knocked along the way. How To Protect Your Cupboards & Drawers One of the common mistakes people make when they’re moving cupboards or drawers is forgetting to secure loose parts or drawers. Leaving doors unlocked or un-taped can be a health and safety hazard for movers and can lead to unnecessary damage along the way. That is why you should always make sure that drawers and doors are locked or wrapped shut to stop them from flying out or falling out along the way. Loose items inside the drawers and cupboards should also be removed, before a cellophane wrap is put around the entire external area to stop any scratching or water damage. Remember that removal vans are not always the cleanest of vehicles and that furniture should always be covered to try and prevent it from getting dirty or dusty during transit.
